Patricia A. Wallace, 74, of Biddeford, died on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough, following a lengthy illness. She was born July 25, 1936 in Waterville, a daughter of late Alfred and Verna (Sidell) Smith Sr. She attended Portland schools.
Early in life, she worked several years with Portland restaurants and a few years with Portland Fish Co. Later Patricia worked several years with the Portland twine factory. She last worked with the Hartford, CT, School System for several years before her retirement in 1979.
Patricia loved listening to music, dancing and singing. She also enjoyed family card games and she especially loved hosting many family gatherings and celebrations over the years, entertaining everyone with her dry sense of humor and sarcasm. She will be remembered as the glue keeping her family together.
She is survived by:
2 daughters: Gloria J. Warrick and her husband Danilo of Standish
Barbara A. Smith and her husband Richard of Bridgton
3 sons: Guy F. Gowen Jr. of West Falmouth
Michael A. Stevens and his wife Florence of Standish
William F. Sorensen III and his wife Maureen of Hartford, CT
1 sister: Jacqueline Gilliam of Northbridge, MA
11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews
A memorial visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Hope Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev Cynthia Biggar of United Church of Christ, Standish, officiating. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery in So. Portland. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
